Ever wondered if you email address and password have been hacked or leaked?
With all the major data breaches over the past few years like Talk Talk, My Space, LinkedIn, Sony, etc… etc… etc… Have you checked to see if any of your name, address, telephone number, emails, and possibly passwords, have been leaked onto the “dark web” and are available for download, by the criminal fraternity. Well here’s a site that allows you to check just that, NB it doesn’t include all the hacks that have happened, just some of them. However, it will give you an idea of how vulnerable you are. Don’t forget to check your personal email addresses as well as your business addresses. Remember that most of these listed have included leaked passwords, so if you use the same password for multiple accounts, you can be traced via the internet. Don’t forget that this is not a definitive list of all data breaches, just some of the bigger ones. Check at haveibeenpwned.com link below.
As you can see my hotmail address has been captured on a number of occasions, but I can sleep easy, this is what I call my burn address. It’s an email that I use to sign up to things I know will get lots of spam. The password gets changed on a very regular basis, about every 14 days and is stored in my password manager.
There’s no shortage of emails and passwords out there, I think nearly everyone has had their details published at some point, the important thing to remember is that you have changed your passwords and that they are changed regularly to something different each time. Rotating the same passwords and reusing passwords across multiple accounts is a very bad idea, and a very sure way to get hacked.
